YPG/SDF drone strikes Aleppo government building
According to the Aleppo Media Directorate, the drone attack occurred while the press conference was ongoing and was seen as an attempt to “silence the media” and block the flow of information to the public. The directorate condemned the strike, describing it as part of the SDF’s “criminal behavior” and accusing the group of deliberately targeting government institutions, media personnel, and medical facilities amid “mounting losses and the collapse of its armed structures in Aleppo.”
The statement further denounced the SDF’s efforts “to target journalists, mislead public opinion and spread rumors that threaten social stability.” No immediate details were provided regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
Since Tuesday, the SDF has also shelled residential neighborhoods, civilian facilities, and Syrian Army positions in Aleppo. These attacks have claimed nine lives, injured 55 others, and displaced roughly 165,000 residents from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts.
Authorities noted that a March 10, 2025 agreement called for the SDF’s integration into state institutions, reaffirming Syria’s territorial unity and rejecting any attempts at division. In the months following, officials said the YPG/SDF has shown no compliance with the terms. The Syrian government has continued to strengthen nationwide security measures since the removal of the Assad regime in December 2024.
